2014 Q2 U.S. Bankruptcy Filing Statistics, released this week on uscourts.gov, show a continuing decline in case filings across all 9 districts — as much a 39% from just two years ago.

Despite a seasonal surge in filings March through May, 2014, all districts ended the first half of the year back at nearly the same filing pace as the year’s start.

Overall, as much as 39% fewer cases (District 9) were filed than during the same period two years ago. All districts have seen significantly fewer cases filed each consecutive year.

Across all districts, the number of cases filed declined 24% in 2014 from the same period two years ago, dropping from 648,666 cases to just 493,567 in the first half of 2014.
